Wegovy Injection

Wegovy is a prescription-only weight loss medication used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity to help manage weight in adults who are obese (BMI ???30) or overweight (BMI ???27) with at least one weight-related condition (such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol).

Wegovy contains semaglutide, a medicine that mimics the effects of a natural hormone called GLP-1. It works by reducing appetite, slowing gastric emptying, and increasing feelings of fullness, which leads to a reduction in calorie intake and sustained weight loss over time.

How to use:

??? Wegovy is given as a once-weekly injection under the skin (subcutaneous), in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.

??? Start with 0.25mg once weekly for the first 4 weeks, gradually increasing the dose every 4 weeks as advised, up to a maintenance dose of 2.4mg once weekly.

??? Always follow the specific dosing schedule and instructions provided by your prescriber.

??? If you miss a dose and it???s within 5 days of your scheduled injection, take it as soon as possible. Otherwise, skip the dose and take the next injection as planned.

Precautions:

??? Do not use if you are allergic to semaglutide or any of the ingredients in Wegovy.

??? Not suitable for use in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

??? Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have a history of pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, or are taking other medicines for diabetes or weight loss.

??? Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, headache, and fatigue ??? these usually lessen over time.

??? Serious side effects are rare but may include pancreatitis, gallstones, or kidney problems.

??? Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
